Preventable deaths are too common
Basic medical knowledge and equipment can mean the difference between life and death for newborns. But for mothers in the poorest countries, particularly those in rural areas, these resources are often not available. As a result, otherwise preventable deaths are all too common.
Working to save lives
VSO provides volunteer doctors, nurses and midwives, and life-saving equipment, to save the lives of mothers and babies. These volunteers train local midwives and healthcare professionals to ensure these vital skills stay within communities long after they have left.
A donation from you today could help provide a resuscitator which helps babies take their first breath. Your donation could be the difference between life and death.
“It’s upsetting to see a newborn baby die when you know that simple equipment could have saved their life.” Dr Aisling Walsh, VSO Volunteer Doctor
